So initially this catering shindig was just an idea, conceived around a braai confabulating with mates. A simple side hustle, to compliment what the Butcher knows best. Lightbulb moment! Inspired by the flaming coals of what we surrounded: a coal spitbraai, an easy DIY machine that will take braai time to a new level.
We needed a skillfully designed machine that would be quick and easy to disassemble and reassemble, so you can fit it into your car and go. You know, a side hustle.
There was only one man for this job and as they designed this beauty, him being an old time Chef of his own restaurant and keen lover of food, we had ourselves a business partner. Ta-Da, Spitfire was born.
It was the year 2012 when we kicked this baby off the ground. Spitfire Catering became a full time, full catering business. Thanks to our community for supporting local, giving us an incredible word of mouth marketing head start, thanks to the kindness in reviews and recommendations, word spread far and remarkably wide. Spitfire has travelled KZN like a hungry tourist.

It has been a wild ride, turning into a passion for our kitchen team. Not only was the butcher’s spitbraai meat a hit, when our salads hit the scene…our full catering took us to new heights, breaking records every year.
Our master chefs: Zando, Jimmy and August, who are the face of Spitfire, attending your events, have been with us from day one – since 2012, when dream started. We’re a family of cool cats who enjoy the events, the parties, the people… we love the whole shindig!
